Agriculture remains the backbone of the Kenya’s economy accounting for about 24 percent of GDP and 74 Percent of employment whose function has been devolved by the constitution. The sector’s main agenda is to address food Security and employment creation.
Devolving the sector aimed at enhancing food production at the county level. The county government provides extension services, funds, inputs, such as fertilizer and credit for agricultural activities that leads to increased production.
