Knowledge Economy

Kenya is transforming into knowledge economy and will increase its dependence on people with formal knowledge to drive development objectives through: –

  • The mandate of the county governments is to manage ECDE institutions in the counties.
  • The National Policy Framework further recognizes the importance of stakeholders in expanding opportunities for young children to access ECDE services, as well as the importance of paying attention to the needs of vulnerable groups such as those living with disability.
  • Village polytechnics are village level programmes offering local opportunities for young people to acquire practical skills such as Carpentry, Masonry, Tailoring, crop husbandry, horticulture, accounting and home management. This brings about self-employment among the youth.
